Big scenery. A trip that feels like you.

🏔️ Glaciers, coastal towns, and room to take it all in.

Alaska can stop you in your tracks. Choosing how to experience it takes a little more thought: the route, ship, cabin, time in port, and whether to add a land tour all shape your trip.

I’m Rachel Stewart, a travel advisor based in West Plains, Missouri, serving travelers nationwide. I help couples, retirees, and families plan Alaska cruises and land journeys around their interests, comfort, and pace—then bring the flights, hotels, transfers, and experiences together.

Why Plan Alaska With Me?

Alaska is a big trip, and the choices can look similar until you compare the details. I help you understand what you’re getting, what is worth the investment, and where a different route or extra night could make the trip more comfortable.

You’ll receive carefully chosen options with clear explanations. I coordinate the moving pieces and keep you informed before departure, so you can spend less time second-guessing the plan and more time looking forward to Alaska.

Choose the Alaska trip that fits you

An Alaska cruise

A comfortable way to explore coastal Alaska while unpacking once. I compare the ports, glacier-viewing days, time ashore, ship atmosphere, and cabin options—not just the advertised fare. A round-trip sailing and a one-way itinerary can create very different experiences.

A cruise with a land tour

A cruisetour combines your sailing with time on land. If Denali and Alaska’s interior are high on your list, this is worth exploring. I help you compare the number of nights, included tours, transportation, and daily pace so the land portion feels like part of your vacation, not a string of long transfer days.

A trip focused on land

Prefer more time in a few places? We can explore a land itinerary built around your interests, with hotels, transportation, and experiences coordinated together. The right route depends on your dates, available time, and how independently you want to travel.

The details I help you compare

Glacier experiences. Glacier Bay, Hubbard Glacier, and other scenic-cruising areas are different experiences. I check the actual itinerary rather than assuming every Alaska sailing visits the same places.

Your ship and cabin. Quiet spaces, dining, onboard activities, cabin location, and balcony options matter differently to each traveler. We’ll talk through what you will actually enjoy using.

Time on land. For a cruisetour, I look at travel time, hotel changes, included meals and excursions, and the time available to explore. More stops are not always a better trip.

Your complete trip. Flights, pre-cruise hotels, transfers, shore experiences, and travel protection all affect the overall investment. I’ll explain what is included and what needs to be arranged separately.

From your first idea to departure

Start with my trip inquiry form, then schedule a discovery call. We’ll talk about who is traveling, your dates, budget, and the experiences that matter most. Once we agree on the planning scope and fee, I create a proposal with a small number of carefully chosen options.

After booking, I manage confirmations and payment deadlines and bring your trip details into a clear itinerary. Before departure, you’ll receive organized travel documents and the option of a call to walk through your plans. You’ll work directly with me throughout the process.

Alaska planning questions

When should I start planning?

Starting 9–12 months ahead is a useful planning target, with more lead time for specific cabins, peak dates, or groups. Availability varies by sailing and tour. If your dates are closer, I can check what fits rather than assume it is too late.

When is the best time to go?

Most Alaska cruises operate from May through September, with some earlier or later sailings. Your priorities, route, and land plans help determine the best timing. Weather and wildlife sightings are never guaranteed.

Do I need a balcony?

A balcony can be lovely for private scenery viewing, but it is not essential. I’ll help you weigh the cost against how you expect to use your cabin and the ship’s public viewing spaces.

Can the trip work with different activity levels?

We can look for experiences that suit your pace. Tell me about walking limits, steps, or other needs early so I can check specific ships, transfers, and tours with suppliers.

What should I budget?

Most custom vacations I plan begin around $7,000 for the trip. Your Alaska total depends on dates, travelers, cabin, flights, excursions, and any land stay. Planning fees begin at $100 for cruises and $150 for custom land itineraries; I confirm the applicable fee before research begins.
